Cue Card set for more Haydock heroics

 Nov 23 2017

One of the most popular chasers around, Cue Card, dominated the race formerly known as The Lancashire Chase and is capable of some brutal performances including when pulverising former Gold Cup hero Coneygree in heavy ground here last year.

The now 11-year-old will face similar conditions again but he does need to end a disappointing run of two falls in his last three starts including first up in the Charlie Hall Chase at Wetherby.

Regular pilot Paddy Brennan has paid the price for those mistakes with the exciting young jockey Harry Cobden taking over and they will clash once again with the Charlie Hall winner Bristol De Mai who loves Haydock having won both starts here and also revels in these conditions.

With the defection due to the testing ground of the Gold Cup hero Sizing John, Cue Card’s main rival will undoubtedly be Bristol De Mai who looks set to be very popular in the market.

Tea For Two and Outlander, who likewise don’t mind heavy ground, add more quality in opposition live on Sky Racing 1 on Saturday night.
